Menu Board

I have been wanting to get meal planning a little more organized. I dread planning the weekly menu and grocery list. I found a bunch of ideas on Pinterest and put a few if my favorites together to create this

  

Depending on your craft supplies this craft could cost you less than five dollars. I used:

A foam board

Scrapbook paper

Stickers

My recipes 

Each envelope has meals inside for breakfast lunch and dinner. Each card has a meal idea on one side and the items needed for that meal on the other.

I pick meals use them to make my shopping list and to let my family know what is for dinner. Most of my meals I make without a recipe but the ones that I need a recipe for I wrote where the recipe is on the card next to the items needed.

Christmas Crafts

I have been crafting a little this December but I didn't want to blog about it because I was doing most of it as gifts. 

I got this idea from Mon Petit Violon she had a ton a great patterns. If you decide to try this one I would recommend making them smaller than your shoe size.  

I got this idea from Sarah Ortega she explains in great detail how to make these. I did one for my Mom, sister and my self. My Mom's is in the center there is a bead for each of her children. I thought about doing birth stone colors but we all have a red birthstone so I did favorite colors instead. My sisters in the brown one and it has one bead. She is expecting her first child in April, and the birthstone in April is a diamond, so I did a clear bead. Mine has two beads one for my daughter who was born in November and one for my second child who is due in May. 

For these I just used a washer, scrapbook paper and mod podge. I cut them out with a whole punch and scissors. They were super simple, I just did a layer of mod podge on the washer and a few layers on top.  

This idea came from pinterest. I saw this quote and loved it. I made this for both my Mom and my Mother-in-law! 

Christmas Countdown

Last year Makenna made a Christmas advent calendar out of blocks and I have been wanting to do the same. So, for Super Saturday this year there was a craft that used blocks so instead of making the craft they were meant for I took them home and made this out of them.

Now we will know that how many days there are left until Christmas. I think that they turned out really well.

Magnet board

A while ago I got together with my in-laws and we made these awesome magnet boards. We bought the already put together boards and all we had to do was paint and add paper and embellishments.

We painted the boards with an accent color. I painted mine brown. We cut out our scrapbook paper to fit the area I wanted to put it on the board. You can add a different texture to the board by ripping the paper instead of cutting it straight. I thought I would add a change to the corners by cutting an angle on one corner and around the corner on the other. We put the paper on with a layer of modge podge, then another layer of modge podge on the top.

It was now time to add embellishments. I added flowers and ribbon around the border. 

Along with the board we made matching magnets just like Makenna did here.

Young Womens Theme Subway Art

This is Girls Camp Craft Number 2!

I have seen this Subway Art on a ton of blogs so I decided to try it out. I Created this on photoshop and then printed it off on card-stock scrapbook paper. 

 

I painted my board blue then I used mod podge to put the paper on the board.

I like the way it turned out, I don't love the blue on the board I might sand it off and try another color. If you are going to try this be sure to use card-stock and not regular paper, it wrinkles and doesn't really work. I am also working on another word combo using the key words in the Thirteenth Article of Faith.

I could do a free printable if anyone really wants, just let me know. 

welcome to our home

Everyday, whenever I leave my house I walk past this sign.

I made it last year when we moved to the apartment we live in now. It sits on top of a pipe at the top of our stairs outside our apartment. I made it so that people that come and try to find our apartment they know where to go. It's worked great so far for that purpose. 

It started out as a piece of plywood left over from another sort of project (we were not able to fit our box spring down the stairs, now we have a few pieces of plywood under our mattress). I painted it red first and then with yellow so that when I sanded it to give it a bit of character there was a different color underneath.

I sanded some of it down to the wood and some of it just to that red layer of paint.

I got a Cricket machine from my husbands work, they were going to throw it away! So he saved it for me. I cut the letters of my name and forever with my Cricket, I think I am a big fan of red, brown, green and yellow. It's all over my house.

Then I glued the letters onto the board where I wanted them to go, and put several layers of Modge Podge to finish it off.

I really like how it turned out

Clear Rock Magnets

These are one of my favorite things to make. One of my roommates made them for me about 5 years ago and I love them. They are super easy to make.

You will need:

Clear craft rocks ( I got mine at Robert's, but you can get them at any craft store or dollar store)

Scrapbook paper,

Magnets, 

Sponge paint brush, 

Modge Podge (elmers glue or any glue that dries clear will also work),

and hot glue.  

All you do is:

1- Paint flat side of the rocks with modge podge and place them on your paper.

2- Cut around the rocks.

3- Hot glue the Magnet to the back.

You could use any paper to match our decor or make magnet letters for your kids to play with the possibilites are endless!
